Doom Seas

Survive the island. Fear the sea.

A co-op survival game about a crew of shipwrecked sailors on a wild island. Gather what the shore gives you, craft what you need, keep the fire lit — and don't go in the water after dark.

First launch on a Mac

Unzip it, drag Doom Seas into Applications (or anywhere), double-click. Builds are signed and notarized with Apple, so it opens like any other app.

If macOS says it could not verify the app, you have an older download: open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway — or just download it again.

First launch on Windows
  1. Unzip the folder anywhere and run DoomSeas.exe. Keep the three DLLs next to it — they're Epic's online-play library.
  2. If SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info → Run anyway.
Playing together

One of you clicks Host Online and reads out the six-letter code; everyone else types it on the title screen and clicks Join. Match build numbers if you can — the build number sits under the title on the menu. Your saved worlds live on the host's computer.

The game

Your ship is gone. The island isn't going anywhere.

Every world in Doom Seas starts the same way: the storm wins, the hull snaps, and your crew washes up on a beach you've never seen. From there it's up to you. Every island is generated fresh, so there's no map to memorise and no guide to follow — only what you can find, make, and defend.

It's a survival game built around small crews of friends. One player hosts the world, the others join with a six-letter code, and everything you build is shared. Pile the twigs, light the campfire, boil the seawater, and decide together who takes the torch when the howling starts.

  • First-person survival with simple, chunky controls
  • Hunger, thirst, stamina and a day/night cycle that matters
  • Left-click does it all — swing, eat, drink, fill, place, cook
  • Built in Godot, an open-source engine, with every system written from scratch
The whole island seen from out at sea: a green hill ringed by pale beaches in blue water
Every island is generated from a seed — beaches, forest, highlands and the hidden spots between.

What you'll do

Gather. Craft. Eat. Survive. Repeat.

Piles, pebbles & grass

Punch piles of twigs, pebbles and clumps of grass for Wood, Stone and Plant Fiber. Broken piles vanish and turn up somewhere new, so you keep exploring.

Craft it, then build it

Craft clubs, swords, a pickaxe for the crystal deposits up on the slopes, cups, torches, a shield, a bedroll. Then place a Build Bench, grab the hammer and raise walls, floors, doors, windows, roofs and balconies in wood or stone.

Fire changes everything

Raw meat is risky and seawater will poison you. Place a campfire, cook your catch, boil your water — and give the night something to be afraid of.

Monsters with tricks

Woolves disguise themselves as sheep until you get close. Boom Bison charge — block with a shield to stun them. Frost Wolves slow you, Chimps only fight if provoked, Fairies flee, and on beast nights the Night Fangs howl and hunt.

A Hero's Diary

Press E for your diary: a fog-of-war map that fills in as you walk, your pack, a Monstropedia that unlocks as you fight, the crafting book, and a Class Menu where kills, gathering and crafting level you up to 50.

Something lives under the highlands

From the second night, dark dens open in the high ground. Inside: a tunnel, a vast webbed lair, and a Giant Spider hanging from the ceiling until you walk in. Die and part of your pack waits in a glowing chest where you fell.

Dev log

What's new on the island

The build changes almost daily. The latest entries, newest first — every one of these is already in the download above.

  1. Build system. Craft a Build Bench and a Build Hammer, then place walls, floors, roofs, balconies, doors and windows in wood or stone. Pieces snap to a grid, stack, rotate with R, and are saved with the world.
  2. The spider dungeon. From night two, dens open in the high ground. Punch your way in to a long stone tunnel and a huge domed lair where the Giant Spider — 350 health, a poison bite, and a shove that throws you across the room — hangs from the ceiling until you step inside. A green pad takes you home.
  3. The arrival. New worlds now open with the storm: lightning, a hull snapping in two, then waking face-up on the sand with a supply crate that has your name on it.
  4. New creatures, new models. Fairies, Chimps, Boom Bison and Frost Wolves join the Woolves, Sheep and Night Fangs, each with its own silhouette. Woolves disguise as sheep until you're twelve studs away; real sheep sometimes come in pairs — the tell.
  5. Shield, knockback, death feed. Craft a Wooden Shield and hold R to block (a blocked bison charge stuns it). Every hit shoves. Deaths show up for the whole crew, with a Tab log of the last three minutes.
  6. Classes. Kills, gathering and crafting earn XP; levels to 50 bring the same buffs as the Roblox original, and the Strong class unlocks at level 7. Dying costs a little XP.
  7. Persistent worlds. Four save slots, owned by the host; friends get their packs back when they rejoin; every world gets its own island. L L saves and leaves. Q drops an item on the ground for a friend to pick up.
  8. Real nights. A moon, a dark sky, and bedrolls: when everyone sleeps the night flies by — except beast nights (four to six of every ten, and every tenth), when the Night Fangs howl, hunt without mercy, and burn at dawn.
  9. Crystals matter. Torches and campfires need Crystal again, and a campfire now costs twice the wood and stone. Mine the glowing deposits with a Stone Pickaxe.
  10. Survival loop complete. Eat, drink, boil seawater, cook over a fire, wear out cups, lose part of your pack to a death chest, and find it all again on the diary's map.

Play together

No accounts. No servers to rent. Just a code.

Doom Seas is built for the way kids and friends actually play: someone hosts, everyone else piles in. Online play runs over Epic Online Services, so it works from different houses with no port-forwarding and no sign-ups.

  1. Host Online. One player opens a world and gets a six-letter invite code.
  2. Share the code. Text it, say it on a call, write it on the fridge.
  3. Join. Friends type the code on the title screen and wash up on the same beach.

Made with younger players in mind

  • Worlds are invite-only — there are no public servers and no strangers.
  • No personal information is collected. Players are a random sailor name, like Sailor-0829.
  • No open chat. Talk on whatever call you're already on.
  • Solo and same-network LAN play work with the internet switched off.

Invite code

K7W3PX

Codes skip look-alike letters, so nobody mixes up an O and a 0 over the phone.

The studio

Winter Crest Studios

We're a very small independent studio — a family team — making the kind of game we wanted to play with our friends: a notch scarier than the games we grew up on, never gory, with the monsters front and centre. Doom Seas grew out of Blazing Hearts, our earlier Roblox prototype, and is now being rebuilt from the ground up as a standalone game so it can be exactly what we imagine.

Everything in the screenshots above is real, in-engine and playable today. Follow along here as the island gets stranger and the nights get longer.
